Hidden Chest Studio designs and builds branded minigames for marketing teams and enterprise brands — short, sharable campaign games that turn a scroll-past ad into a few minutes of genuine attention. Based in Kuala Lumpur, trusted by AirAsia and Khazanah Nasional.
Most campaign creative competes for a couple of seconds of attention. A branded minigame asks for a few minutes instead — and gets it, because play is voluntary. Hidden Chest Studio builds branded minigame development around that simple idea: give people something worth engaging with, and the brand message travels with it. This is the same discipline we brought to LOFINDER, a brand gamification project we built for AirAsia, designing a game mechanic that carried the brand experience rather than interrupting it.
We work across three related disciplines that all live under this service: marketing games built for a single campaign window, ongoing brand activation games designed to run at events or pop-ups, and app-embedded minigames that live permanently inside a client's existing product. Whichever format fits your campaign, the build process is the same — a small, senior team designs the mechanic first, then builds it in Unity or Godot for web, iOS, or Android, so it can be deployed wherever your campaign actually lives.
Founded in 2020 and based in Kuala Lumpur, Hidden Chest Studio has shipped 5+ projects and picked up 6 industry awards along the way, with coverage from The Star, Vulcan Post, Free Malaysia Today, The Sun, and IGN. Every project — including campaign and brand activation games — is run directly by one of our three co-founders. There's no account layer and no outsourcing between the brief and the build.
Our work for Khazanah Nasional followed the same logic in a different medium: a bespoke interactive installation built for Carcosa Seri Negara, designed to turn a historic venue into a piece of interactive storytelling for guests. That's the throughline across all of our brand work, whether it's a mobile minigame or a physical installation — design the interaction first, then build the technology to serve it, not the other way around.
A branded minigame is a short, purpose-built game created around a brand, product, or campaign — designed to be played in minutes, shared easily, and tied to a marketing goal like lead capture, app installs, or in-app engagement. Our AirAsia project, LOFINDER, is an example: a brand gamification title built to engage AirAsia's audience directly.
Timelines depend on scope, but most campaign games move from concept to launch in weeks, not months, because they're built to be focused rather than sprawling. We scope every project around your campaign deadline first, then design the game around what's achievable in that window.
We build for web, iOS, and Android, using Unity or Godot depending on the project's needs, so your minigame can live inside a microsite, an app, or a brand activation booth without extra rebuilding.
Yes. We regularly build minigames as embedded features inside existing brand apps and web properties, matching your existing design system and analytics requirements rather than shipping something disconnected.
We handle the full creative process — concept, mechanic design, art direction, and build — starting from a campaign goal rather than a finished game idea. You don't need to arrive with a mechanic already designed; brief us on the audience and objective, and we'll design the play pattern that fits it, the same way we approached LOFINDER for AirAsia.
Tell us about your campaign timeline, platform, and goals — we'll get back to you within 1–2 business days.
